It (almost) happened again in another European city today. The Telegraph UK is reporting at this very moment that Belgian police have found knives:
“Police in the northern Belgian city of Antwerp said on Thursday they had detained a man who tried to enter the main pedestrianised shopping street in a car at high speed, adding security in the city would be stepped up.
“At about 11 am this morning a vehicle entered De Meir at high speed due to which pedestrians had to jump away,” a police spokesman told a news conference, referring to the street name.
The Belgian prosecutor’s office said a 39 year old French national had been arrested and that police found knives, a shotgun and a gas can with an unknown liquid in the car.
The office said “because of these elements, and the events in London yesterday, the case is being taken on by the federal prosecutor’s office,” which usually deals with extremist attacks.
Additional police and military personnel, including a bomb squad, have been deployed to the centre of Antwerp and security stepped up at the city’s port.
Prime Minister Charles Michel said: “we remain vigilant. Our security services have done excellent work.”

The sad fact that this may be the new reality for native residents of western European nations is settling in on a nervous population. After yesterday’s attack in London that left four dead, including an American citizen (a resident of Utah), an unarmed policeman and a mother picking up her kids, several Londoners went on an epic rant [language alert concerning this link] against the liberal leadership of their nations which threw open the door for migrants to enter their countries with little or no effort to find out who these people are.
At one point one of the men said, in reference to leadership and the assembled press that, “Blood is on the hands of people like you (meaning the press) and people on the left. There are going to be knocks on the door of families tonight, saying that their daughters and mothers and the families have been maimed and killed in the streets of our own capital. And the left have allowed it to go unnoticed.”
Just last man, in response to Donald Trump’s calls for a more robust vetting and security system to keep the American people safe, Sadiq Khan, London’s first Muslim mayor, tweeted out, “Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe. It risks alienating mainstream Muslims. London has proved him wrong.”
It’s looking more like London has proved him right.
