Here’s how liberalism works its way, often times inextricably, into the fiber of America: A) create a problem, B) propose government solutions as the only solutions to the problem you’ve created, C) make yourself the good guy by being the ones in government who will force the problem’s solution through, thus easing the pain of those being hurt by the problem you’ve created in the first place. Follow that?
Case in point – America’s colleges and universities.
Liberals have almost completely taken over higher education in America. They run that industry via a nearly monopolistic grip and as is typical of everything liberalism touches, costs have skyrocketed to the point that average Americans cannot or can barely afford it. A and B; done.
Now liberals constantly howl about the high costs of obtaining a college degree (a problem they’ve created) and are promoting government as the only possibly solution to the problem. While Hillary/Bernie’s plan to make tuition “free” at public universities for families earning $125,000 or less per year is preposterous, it eases the pain (they’ve created) of the lower classes – thus making government the savior.
The political correctness running amok on America’s college campuses is well known and last week we got a look at two instances of what goes on around our nation’s schools.
First there was the case of a group of students at group of students at Claremont College in California (imagine that) who have refused to live with white people.
First reported by the Claremont Independent student magazine, a student named Karé Ureña posted on Facebook that non-white students in need of housing arrangements should reach out to either her or two other students with whom she plans to live in an off-campus house. The post states that “POC [people of color] only” will be considered for this living opportunity. “I don’t want to live with any white folks,” Ureña added.
Racism much? Didn’t we pass laws to prevent whites from refusing hire, serve, lend or rent to blacks? Does that not work both ways? At Claremont, apparently not.
“We don’t want to have to tiptoe around fragile white feelings in a space where we just want to relax and be comfortable,” added Nina Lee, a Women’s Studies major.
Not to be outdone, Vanderbilt University in Tennessee announced the next day that it is rescinding an 83-year old donation and paying $1.2 million to rename a hall that has stood on its campus since the 1930’s. Why? Because the name of the building, “Confederate Memorial Hall” might hurt someone’s feelings.
“The residence hall bearing the inscription Confederate Memorial Hall has been a symbol of exclusion and a divisive contradiction of our hopes and dreams of being a truly great and inclusive university,” said University Chancellor Nicolas Zeppos. So apparently removing “Confederate” and simply renaming it “Memorial Hall” suddenly makes the university more inclusive.
Segregation in our schools USED TO be a bad thing. Brave black-Americans once walked, under the protection of police, onto college campuses to be educated alongside whites. Now, thanks to liberalism, we’re headed back to where we used to be….but they’re calling it progress.
This nonsense knows no end. But is this all a part of the plan? Make America’s colleges and universities giant “safe zones” where history can be re-written, young impressionable minds can be shaped, molded and indoctrinated to the kinds of thoughts and beliefs we (the progressive liberals in government) choose, and we can use taxpayer money to drive the whole thing. All under the guise of easing the common man’s pain.
