In July of 2014 we hosted our very first “DAY OF FREEDOM” outreach in Denver. Held just off of Colfax Avenue (in the heart of the city’s ethnic-minority neighborhoods) we went out into the streets and invited neighbors, clergy, business owners and all we could find to come attend one or more of three events – a prayer breakfast with Colorado state legislators, a talk on community inclusion luncheon, and finally a Day of Freedom dinner. Louisiana senator Elbert Guillory keynoted the day.
The photos you see here includes people from all walks of life. Democrats, Republicans, Green Party, self-professing liberals, conservatives and politically-agnostics. All sorts from our urban black community came and participated. Why? Simple. Because we asked.
THIS is working in and with the community for positive change.
