Hollywood loves sequels. When properly planned out theyre pretty good: Back to the Future (Part II, anyway), Lord of the Rings/Harry Potter, Toy Story 2 and 3, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi from the first Star Wars Trilogy. But when done haphazardly and usually for reasons having little to do with telling the story itself you get the Star Wars Prequels, Hoodwinked 2, and the Jurassic Park series. This truism made me think of the Progressivism and today’s Democrat Party. Horror movies exist on franchises and theyre an incredible metaphor for Progressives. I received a communication recently from yet another one angry liberal screaming about how America is a racist nation that was founded by racists who owned slaves, yadda, etc., yadda. While a part of that narrative is true –some of our Constitution’s signers were slave owners– telling that part is only telling one half of the story. If we’re going to cite the fact that some of our founders were slave-owners its only fair to tell the other half of the slavery story too. The bill, introduced by Rep. Lois Capps, D-Calif, would introduce new “gender-neutral” terms such as “spouse” or “married couple” and eliminate “husband” and “wife.” Early in his first term the Barack Obama administration alreadyRead More →

“You should be careful what you ask for, you just might get it” is an oft-used proverb to describe the principle of unintended consequences and that’s a principle currently visiting America’s left-leaning ‘green movement.’ For years this small but vocal corner of the population has been demonizing ‘big oil’, calling for an end to use of fossil fuels and a wholesale switch to renewable fuels, namely wind and solar. Greenies were elated when one of their own, Barack Obama, was twice elected to the Oval Office and with his full-fledged commitments to crush the coal industry, drive up the costs of petroleum-based energy sources andRead More →
