I received a communication recently from yet another one angry liberal screaming about how America is a racist nation that was founded by racists who owned slaves, yadda, etc., yadda. While a part of that narrative is true –some of our Constitution’s signers were slave owners– telling that part is only telling one half of the story. If we’re going to cite the fact that some of our founders were slave-owners its only fair to tell the other half of the slavery story too. Which is exactly what I did: “…as to your comments & belief that this is a racist nation, founded by racists,Read More →

Legislators in California introduced a bill that would ban the words “husband” and “wife” from being used in federal law because they are “gendered terms” and discriminate against gay people. The words husband and wife were deleted from California state law last year.  Under new legislation proposed by over two dozen Democrats, that same rule would be applied federally. The bill, introduced by Rep. Lois Capps, D-Calif, would introduce new “gender-neutral” terms such as “spouse” or “married couple” and eliminate “husband” and “wife.” Early in his first term the Barack Obama administration already has removed “mother” and “father” from federal birth certificates and replaces themRead More →

“You should be careful what you ask for, you just might get it” is an oft-used proverb to describe the principle of unintended consequences and that’s a principle currently visiting America’s left-leaning ‘green movement.’ For years this small but vocal corner of the population has been demonizing ‘big oil’, calling for an end to use of fossil fuels and a wholesale switch to renewable fuels, namely wind and solar. Greenies were elated when one of their own, Barack Obama, was twice elected to the Oval Office and with his full-fledged commitments to crush the coal industry, drive up the costs of petroleum-based energy sources andRead More →

(Former) President Barack Obama and many political leadership crowd are a part of the “open borders” crowd.  Open borders proponents believe ‘there are no lines’.  When you look at a map, globe or atlas it has lines drawn on it which depict borders; where one nation ends and another begins.  In reality of course those lines do not exist.  No one ever took a giant piece of chalk and drew them onto the face of the earth.  Open borders proponents believe that if a person wants to live here there or wherever that it should be up to the individual not nations to make thoseRead More →

In 2008 when candidate Barack Obama chose as his campaign slogan “Hope and Change” virtually all of us who were not swept up in the euphoria surrounding a young, seemingly bright, articulate, black candidate for president asked the glaringly obvious question, “Change from what to what?” Sadly, tens of millions of Americans either never asked this basic question or simply didn’t care what the answer to it was if they did. And now we’re all finding out what some of the “change(s)” this man envisioned for our nation are. From dismantling our military to all but abandoning Israel the list of “changes” is far tooRead More →
